"Horizonclan is safe now." Came a tom voice from the darkness. It was weary, but also relieved. As Giliapaw glanced about she could see eyes gleaming with pride all around her. Was this Starclan? She lashed her tail in confusion.
"Was it not safe before?" She asked sharply, "If so, why didn't you warn us?"
Great sadness seemed to fill the tom's eyes but there came no reply to her question. "Greywhisper and Shadowfox are not going to return," the tom's voice sounded once again.
Giliapaw stepped back in shock trying to speak, but something seemed to be lodged in her throat. "A-and Havenstar?" Her voice came as a low whisper.
"Why, I'm dead too," The tom's voice replied. Giliapaw took a step forward quickly and then jolted into a sprint.
"Desertrush was just lost to a fox, and now you, Greywhisper, and Shadowfox? What will we do?" Her voice trembled with fear and as the starry version of Havenstar stroked her fur with his tail she began to cry.
"Hush now, that is for the clan to decide. Whomever they think worthy should be of that position. Now, it's time for you to go. Some may die of sickness still, but when you wake all should be well again," His voice soothed Giliapaw and her eyes began to get heavy. She shook her head, trying to stay awake.
"But I don't know what to do Havenstar! Nightstorm? Is she alright?"
Havenstar smiled, "Yes. She should be on her way soon. We left just before she did, so she wasn't involved in the attack. Now it's time for you to go."
Giliapaw shook her head, but she already knew she'd lost the battle.
Plip! Plink! Plip! Plip! Plink! Giliapaw's ears twitched as a warm droplet of water hit her nose. She groaned then, suddenly, her eyes flew open and she scrambled to her paws. Warm water! She glanced around her, the leaves were green! She whipped around as she heard a hiss from behind her. An adder? She felt like her fur crawled at the thought of the creature. Her eyes widened, it WAS an adder. She blinked as she saw a fox, a small fox with amazingly large ears. Uvicon! A red bird, a snake, a blue jay, a hummingbird, all right in front of her.
So, Havenstar had been right. Everything WAS back to normal. The companions had returned, and new-leaf had arrived and was swiftly turning into green-leaf right before her very eyes. Whatever had been happening... it was over. But she could never know when or if it could return.
Ignoring her last thought she flicked her tail, wide eyed at the companions before bounding into the camp clearing yowling loudly, “The companions have returned!” Life shined in her face at the thought of a new green-leaf… and a new beginning.
