The leaves that rolled over the ground from the wind cast long shadows over the earth that it passed. Sweet softening sounds creaked from the birds in the trees, and the scurrying mice and other rodents in the undergrowth. The sour tinge of blood stained the air, along with mustier scents of the Horizonclan border. A ruffled heap of black and white blood stained fur lay in the more muffled area of twig's barely breething, and keeping his life on earth. He had survived the night, thank starclan, but by the looks of it, if he didn't get help soon, his life would blow away just like the leaves in the wind. His right black ear twitches trying to get an inch away, but he was to weak to move. HIs bedraggled body sprawled out, one leg, where not even fur covered anymore was scared and blood covered. He barly even had a paw left from the fox last night. He let out a soft, and helpless mew, at the thought of the fox, the blood his family. All had seen so close last night, and now... so distant. Now not even their scents flooded his nose anymore, only his own blood. The trees above him blurred almost as a mist engulfed them, and his eyes closed gently, not much longer he might be out of pain...

Crinkle, crackle, snap... The dry leaves rustled and crunched as heavy paws touched down on them. Darkshadow plodded forward at a steady pace, his bright gaze blankly fixed in front of him. He took no notice of the birds in the trees or the squirrels on the ground. Just have to get home.. he thought to himself, twitching his tail erratically behind him. Suddenly, he snapped his head up and stopped, scanning the trees until he found his companion. He let out his breath in a whoosh before continuing on. That was good, Sapphire was still there.
After so many cats had lost there companions, Darkshadow was on edge. After his recent hunting trip, he had seen two companions acting strangely- one of them hurt. He was determined to keep Sapphire safe, even if that meant staying in HorizonClan's camp until all of this was over.
Sapphire herself was unaware of Darkshadow's worries. She pounded on ahead, her small wings beating fast, even with each of her breaths. She gently touched down a couple of foxlengths ahead of the tabby warrior, scanning the leaf covered ground for any bit of movement. With an excited chirp she snaked her head down, coming up a heartbeat later with a worm in her beak. After gulping it down she looked around. "Did I hear something...?" she murmured to herself, then fell silent.
There it was again- a sound. It sounded like.. a cat. A kitten. Concerned, the small blue bird hopped forward. "Hello?" she called gently. "Is someone... oh!" She staggered backward. There, on the ground, right in front of her, was a wounded kitten. A very wounded kitten. "Darkshadow!" she cried loudly. "Darkshadow, come here!"
Darkshadow gasped and immediately ran forward, pushing himself to the brink of his ability. Was Sapphire hurt? He should never have let her fly above him. It was too dangerous, with all that was going on. If she was hurt, he would never forgive himself. "Sapphire!" he yowled. "What's wrong?" He followed her scent, almost tripping as he realized that she had appeared there, right in front of him. "What's.." he began again, then stopped when he saw what she was with. "Oh, StarClan," he whispered, his eyes widening.

The crunch of leaves sorrounded him as he felt something land beside him, a bird by the scent. He couldn't open his eyes for he barly had enough energy to breath. He let our a soft mew of helplessness. Maybe, just maybe he could live, but did he have anything to live for? And what made him think a bird could help, he might as well just give up. He tried to move a little, trying to drive the bird away to let him die in sheer peace, but failed, all he ended up with was wincing in pain. Another smell hit the roof of his mouth, a cat. He let out a deep breath of relief, maybe his chances of living were even bigger, or was the cat just salking the ird,a dn would leave him to die? Mint's thoughts were clouded once more. The cat's smell grew stronger, and he breathed in deeply, trying to see if he could pull up enough energy to show some kind of sign that he needed help soon. He slowly staggered and lifted his head, his heart pulsing with every jolt of energy that went into his actions. "He..hel... help me please..." was all he was able to say before his body went limp once more, and his head thundered to the ground, entracing as it was around him, he no longer had enough energy to stay awake, and fell into a deep sleep.
{{Wow, sorry Shadow, I am out of it today, just not doing so good, one of my best friends is really mad at me, and it hard for me to think of anything else but trying to work it out}}

((Aww.. I sorreh. D: Good luck with that, Wispeh-kins!))
"Are you.. I... you.. I can't.." Darkshadow stuttered, his deep mew cracking as he watched the little kit. So much blood.. it was making him uncomfortable. And this cat didn't look like it could survive longer without help. It needed a medicine cat- and fast. "Sapphire," he mewed to his companion.
The blue-jay was already taking charge. She hopped around the wounded kit, making little noises in the back of her throat. "I think it would jostle him too much if you carried him by the scruff of his neck," she told him. "So we need to get him on your back somehow."
"Right." Darkshadow blinked and straightened up, trying to hide his nervousness. He didn't want to be the cause of this cat's death, one way or another. But he was involved now, there was no going back. He gently bent down his head and grabbed the kit with his teeth, hoisting him slowly up and around and craning his neck. He started to let go, but the little kit was sliding sideways off his shoulder. "Hllp," he muttered, voice muffled by the fur he was holding.
Sapphire quickly flitted to his shoulders, grabbing hold of the kit with her claws. She flapped and pulled hard, and with Darkshadow's help, shifted the kit back onto his back. "I'll stay up here with him," she reassured the tabby warrior. "You just concentrate on walking- fast and smooth."
Darkshadow nodded and started forward, making sure his steps were clean and even. They continued on in silence for a few minutes. "He okay up there?" Darkshadow mewed over his shoulder.
"He's still sleeping," Sapphire chirped. She sounded worried. "Hello? Little kit? We need you to wake up. Just hold on a little longer. Please." She kept talking, trying to rouse the kit from his possibly fatal nap.

Mint felt himself being hoisted upward, being jostled a little, but not enough to make him wince. His fur muffled with the other cats fur. His weak body pressed against the warm pressence of the other cat.
His eyes tightly shut he was in the pressence of sleep, but still could feel and hear that around around him. The small birds chirping somehow consumed a voice. Maybe he was dreaming... Bird's couldn't talk. Could they? No, they couldn't what was he thinking?
His mind was mufflede, he had to be dreaming but he couldn't wake up. Was he dead? He heaed the small bird's voice calling to him telling him to wake up. Though as much as he tried, he couldn't bring himself to do much other then open his eyes a little. His siudes heived heavily, but would he be in this much pain if he was dead? No, he wasn't dead, that option was out. But... how could this be a dream, the pain felt so real. It had to be real.
His eyelids opened a little bit more, showing his bright green and yet slightly bloodshot eyes. His ear twitches a little. But he could arly move, hardly he hids eyes opened. Closing them slowly to blink then opening them again. "Where... are we.." He let a small and painful cough escape his throught. "Going?" he mangages to mew softly.

"Darkshadow, he's waking up," Sapphire chirped sharply at the massive warrior. "Slow down a bit, will you?" Her expression betrayed her tone, as she looked down at the little kit with worry in her small eyes.
Darkshadow nodded and smoothed his pace, stepping over stones and leaves with caution. "Try to keep him awake," he instructed, his bright eyes focused straight ahead. His mind was already wandering. What was he doing, taking in another cat from outside of HorizonClan? He was sure that Havenstar wouldn't mind, especially with the condition he was in, but he was beginning to doubt himself.
Sapphire began chirping a song. Her voice calmed Darkshadow, and he immediately relaxed his shoulders. "Oops," he mewed, as the little kit was starting to slip. He tensed up again and leaned over, and Mint slid back into a more comfortable position.
"We're going to the camp of HorizonClan," Sapphire answered the tom's question at last. "It's our home. Our medicine cat can take a look at you. After that.. we'll decide what to do." She fell silent for a few moments. "What's your name, little one? Where is your family?" she asked softly. "We're almost there," she added quickly. "To our camp, I mean."

Mint stared calmly at Sapphire. He had never seen a talking animal, other then a cat of course, and now he could understand the bird. He must have been going crazy. Though he felt his mind was lost he went along with the fact that he was talking to a bird. He creaked a small smile over his face, trying to show that even in pain, he could live as the nice cat that he was. "That... it sounds nice." He mewed softly, gently closing his eyes and then opening them again.
"My name is Mint." He paused for a moment thinking of his family made him feel so much pain. "My... family." He mewed softly. "They're gone, the foxes got them..." He mewed, he tried as hard as he could, but he couldn't help reaching the sour tone at the thought of foxes. They had killed his sister... his brother... his mother... his father... everyone. It just wasn't right, nothing was. Then turning his mind back to Sapphire's beautiful voice. He brought himself back to full consciousness. "That sounds nice, what does your camp look like?"

"I'm sorry." Sapphire's gaze was sympathetic, but she sensed that this was a subject the little kit didn't want to talk about. "Our camp.. our camp!" she continued on, hopping about absently on Darkshadow's shoulder. "It's very beautiful.. there are many cats, but you needn't worry. They're all very nice. I'm sure our leader- his name is Havenstar- will let you stay- for a little while at least. Maybe.. maybe it could even.." she trailed off and tipped her head at mint.
"He must think he's crazy, seeing a talking bird," Darkshadow mumbled from below them, his large head dipping as he ducked under a branch.
Sapphire smiled. "Be your.. new home," she finished softly. After a few moments of silence, she spoke up again. "Oh, excuse our rudeness! I'm Sapphire. It's very nice to meet you, Mint. This is Darkshadow." She introduced the large tom with a flick of her tail. "But we can save the proper introductions for when you're feeling better," she added with a smile.
"Here we are!" Darkshadow announced gruffly, stepping into camp. He made his way to the medicine cat's den, only slowing when he had entered the sweet smelling place. He stopped and gently sat down so that Mint could slide off his shoulder into an empty nest. "Nightstorm?" he called. "There's a little kit here that needs your help."

((-appears from the shadows-))
The slender, ebony cat squirmed her way out of the den at Darkshadow's call. Her ribs were showing under her thinning pelt. No more than a pelt clinging to bones, she had been putting the clan's needs before her own and was therefor beginning to waste away. Her voice had grown a bit hoarse, but was still layered with her genuine kindness. "A kit? What's he doing so far from home?" she mewed noticing the unfamiliar kit sitting in a previously unoccupied nest.
She padded over to him, sniffing his fur cautiously. Taking note of his injuries she bent her knees, speak eye level. "Who are you? And where did there wounds come from? Are you sick?" she wanted to ask more questions, but that would have to suffice enough for her to treat him. she could pester for his story later, when he'd had some rest. She eyed him closely. He seemed friendly enough, but then again most kits were.

Mint blinked softly, trying to stretch out a little but winced in pain. "My name's Mint." He pursured trying to say, though it came out softer then he had expected. The blood had dried around his wound thankfully, but it was still fatal. His black and white fur was ungroomed and the scent of fear still lingered in his body. Even if he was talking to other cats, and they seemed like they wanted to help, he couldn't help feeling the fear pulse through his body. "The... the... fox got my leg..." He mewed just as soft, shifting his head weakly to a more comfortable position. "umm... I don't think so..." he mewed then listened to his stomache growl loudly. It hadn't occured to him how hungry he was. Was this cat nice? Who am I to trust her to make me better? Though what else could he do, he had trouble staying awake as it was. Drifting off into an endless slumber leaving the pain sounded like such a great idea right now. What would it matter anyways, my family is dead, who would care?

Darkshadow stood in the medicine cat den, unsure whether to leave Nightstorm to her work or to stay. "Should we.." he mumbled under his breath, raising a paw towards the entrance of the den.
"Stay." Sapphire's voice was a sharp chirp, and she shifted slightly on his shoulder. "I want to make sure Mint is alright," she added, softer. "Let's just stay until he falls asleep."
The tabby warrior sighed and sat down, his gaze fixed on Mint. "We found him out in the forest," he explained to Nightstorm. "He was near death.. Sapphire helped me bring him hear." He looked up at the medicine cat. "Do you think Havenstar will let him stay? It's really soon after Dapplepaw and Autumnpaw, but he's just a kit.." He trailed off with a shrug, which made Sapphire trip and slide further down his shoulder.

Nightstorm sniffed over his leg, it didn't seem infected, but it was better to be safe. She shuffled off to the back of her den where the herbs were kept in small niches along the ground. She sniffed over each one pulling out a bit of Goldenrod and Oak Leaf. She swabbed her paw in the corner to grab some cobweb, shaking off any spiders that may have been lurking on it. Walking on three paws in order to keep the cobwebs clean she padded back to Mint. She bent down to lick the wound clean, or at least as clean as she could get it. She let her mouthful of herbs fall and separated them. Nightstorm scrambled the Goldenrod and Oak leaf together into a poultice and put it on the injury covering over it with the cobwebs to hold the poultice in place. "That should help heal your leg," she said "Do you need anything else? Water, food maybe?" Nightstorm asked noting his growling stomache.
While awaiting Mint's reply, Nightstorm turned to Darkshadow "I think Havenstar will let him stay. He is just a kit after all. A noble clan doesn't turn away kits in need. If that leg heals okay, he should be just as strong as any other cat. Thanks for bringing him here." Nightstorm added happily. "I'll make sure he's well cared for."

Mint shuffled his front paws a little bit. Laying here was much better then in the forest, or in old bare rabbits dens where he and his kin had slept. The smells of cats wafted around him gave him feelings of protection, though as he looked at the faces of the cats. They are such nice cats, the opposite of what my parents told us... How can this be real? He thought to himself while laying his muzzle on a larger patch of moss, the green almost vine-like parts of the moss entangled with one another, and tickled his nose.
Flicking his ears up at the sound of getting refreshments, he slowly let out a ruffled purr, though soon stopped. They are clan cats you idiot! They don't eat the same prey as you do... They eat bones, rats, crowfood, anything of the vile taste... Though still the hunger lingered at his body and he slowly let his head give a little nod to both the questions.
"Tha... Thank you." He managed to mutter under the overly comfortable patch of moss, then breathed in deeply letting the smell of the medicine cat herbs overwhelm him, everything seamed so safe, Almost beyond the true point, or was it already there? he thought to himself, if all the stories his parents had told him and his littermates about clan cats, he should more fearful then he was, but he wasn't. It felt like a dream to him, an endless dream...
"Mrow!" He yowled loudly, he had came back to reality, but had to seem have shaken his leg to a painful position, how did he not notice the pain before? His black and white mottled fur was bristling, as he used much effort to move his foot back in place.

As sensitive as ever to her patients Nightstorm picked up on the waves of discomfort and pain coming from Mint. Turning away from Darkshadow she stepped back over to Mint and gave his leg a very delicate and gentle prod. She winced slightly feeling the irregular position of his bones. "I think your leg is broken." she meowed unhappily. "Hold on you're going to need different herbs for that." Nightstorm padded off toward the back returning to Mint's side a moment later with a wad of comfrey in her mouth. "Here eat these," she said dropping them in front of the kit. "They'll help your leg heal, however..." she hesitated before continuing "There's no guarentee it'll heal right. It's possibly that you'll end up..." she trailed off she didn't want to worry him with the word she had been about to say. Crippled. It would be too much pressure to put on the exhausted cat's shoulders. "The best you can do at the moment is finish the herbs and get some rest."

Mint's small eye grew wide as she gently touched it, he couldn't help wincing a little. "Do you have to do that?" he snapped jerking his body only putting more pain on his leg. Wincing again, he lay his head back down onto his paws. Broken?! He thought, he would have even less of a chance making out of here alive now, and with this bunch pestering him it might be even harder. He took a glance at the herbs as she lay it before him. Giving it a small sniff, her pulled his head back, they smelled quite bitter, and eating them woudl be even worse, though he bent his head down and took a few nibbles, then finnaly downed it. He gave his paw a few licks before resting his head on his paws and closing his eyes. Sleep would be good, he hadn't slept in a while really, so he let himself slip off into the power of slumber.
