The white and golden orange fur of the large cat bristled as the wind touched his body, and the cool air of the stream floated up towards him. His dull blue eyes stared down at his twisting reflection as the stream turned onward gushing past rocks, and sticks that had unwontedly fallen into the flowing water. He took a deep breath and sighed, then swept his tail over his reflection, making his mirror image more blurred then before.
“What seems to be bothering you?” The small blue gray mouse beside him asked gently as she scooped a little water in her paws and swept it over her face cleaning the clumps of dirt, and mud off. Stormfeather shruged, and looked up at the sky, a single cloud passed by, and the suns rays beat down on him, warming through the fur and straight through, though it could not penetrate the sadness that seemed to be walled up in his soul.
“I don’t think Ill ever see my mother again” He sighed again, while glancing at the small mouse. He blinked his eyes sorrowfully and looked at the sky again, the cloud had moved its way further.
River sighed; she could usually never get any sense into him. He would see his mother again, didn’t he know that?
“Race you around the trees and back!” She spoke loudly, and dashed off. Stormfeather turned his head, and lifted a paw to follow, but his gaze brought him right back to the river where his reflection drowned in the water, and the sky where the cloud was far distant now, hardly able to see, as if the sun shunned all forces that would block its warmth and light.

A brown tail reflected in the river, followed by an orange body that was covered in stripes. Dark green eyes pierced through the silver water, looking for any sign of movement. A sigh emerged from the tom, making the river ripple lightly. The reflected moved away until it couldn't be seen anymore.
"Oh Zeon, what am I going to do?" the tom meowed.
A purr like sound echoed into the cats ears."Now Spiderpaw, what do you mean?" A string was lowered down in front of Spiderpaw's nose, followed by a rather large spider. It was the color of autumn: red, orange, light green, and a dappled white on her back.
The apprentice twitched his tail irritatingly. "Ya'know...about HER." For a while now, Spiderpaw had had a little crush on a female cat.
Zeon seemed to laugh half-heartedly. "Now, now Spiderpaw! I can't help you with love! I'm just a spider." "Spiderpaw sighed once more, curled under a holly bush, and closed to his eyes to distract him from the matter at hand.

Rain dashed around the few trees, then finding herself near the stream she scrurried to it, looking at her reflection that ripple on the water. She glanced to her left, not far at all from her stood a small apprentice, sitting with his companion, a typical sight, and when she turned the other way she saw Stormfeather still sitting and morning for the lost by the river.
"Why does he torture himself so? Being a warrior should make him happy, he hasnt even been one for a moon!" She mumbled while swiping her forpaws over her head getting an itch behind her ear. "I need to get somethng to cheer him up, at least a little... Maybe that apprentice could help" She squeaked as she began to scuffle accross the grass, one step almost slipping into the water, but the rest of the way she stayed steady on the streams edge.
Finding a small pile of dried leaves that had miracuasly lasted in this cold she scurried around in them, letting the soft nature crunch beneeth her small feet. Maybe that will get their attension She thought to herself.

Spiderpaw looked around. 'I knew I heard something...' he thought. He got up from under the holly bush and looked in all directions. THERE! He had spotted it. An orange and white-striped cat was coming his way.
"Hey! You! What's going on?" he asked cautiously, afraid something might be wrong. Zeon unrolled herself from the top of the tom's head. "Nothing's wrong, mousebrain. She just needs your help, now GO."
Spiderpaw sighed and started walking towards the cat. She looked familiar, but he just couldn't put his tongue on what her name was.

It's quiet. I smell Stormfeather, and I think Spiderpaw. My nose is hurting today... maybe I should tell--nah. It's fine. I can scent and feel, and that's all I need. After reassuring himself, the dark yellow tom made his way over to the stream. So it was Spiderpaw! He mentally made a note of that. He wouldn't forget Spiderpaw's scent, now.
"Greetings. How are you doing today?" Sungazer murmured to Spiderpaw. His tail twitched as the wheezing Saeo caught up with the tiny tom. He wrapped himself around Sungazer's neck and hissed into his ear,
"You're ssso mean!"

Spiderpaw turned around. Another cat? Boy, the stream sure was busy today!
"Hey! Sungazer! How's it goin'?" He meowed half-heartedly. The tom turned his head every other direction to see if there were any OTHER cats around, but there wasn't.
He sneezed lightly and heard Zeon giggle in his ear. (Can Spider's giggle? o-0;) "I hope you're not catching a coolldd!" the Spider replied lightly. Spiderpaw snorted, and walked towards Sungazer.

Darkshadow lay in the darkness of the warriors den, twitching in uneasy sleep. His dark fur was matted with sweat and his eyes were squinted closed. He bared his teeth in a silent growl and whimpered softly as his paws twitched.
In his dream, he was in a forest. It was like no forest he'd seen before. It was so light, with extremely tall trees. There were cliffs everywhere. Suddenly, he caught a glimpse of something dark move. Whipping his head up, he stared right into the eyes of an unfamiliar scent. However, smelling her, he knew instantly who she was. "Mom!" he cried, charging forward. "Mom?"
The cat turned away, hauling herself up the cliff. She reached the top and ran forward, her shape disappearing into the mist.
"No! Come back! Please!" Darkshadow yowled, closing his eyes. His cry seemed to drone on until he was aware of another voice. He gasped and opened his eyes, taking in his surroundings. His companion, Sapphire, was hopping around on his back, chirping to him worriedly.
"You're awake, finally!" she squawked, relieved. "You were yowling in your sleep. What's wrong?"
"I... I had this dream. I think my mom was in it. I don't know. That's the second time I've had it," Darkshadow groaned, sitting up and giving his chest fur a hasty lick. "I don't know why I'm dreaming of her now. She's been dead almost all my life."
"Maybe you're wondering about her," Sapphire suggested gently. "Not many kits grow up without parents. I think it's natural," she soothed.
Darkshadow shook his head. "Whatever it is, I guess it'll have to take its course. She's not coming back." He stood up. "Thirsty?" he asked her.
"Uh... sure," she replied, confused at the random change of subject. "Want to go down to the stream? Try to catch a fish or two after we drink?"
"Okay," Darkshadow replied, turning and padding out of the den. Sapphire flew to his shoulder and perched in his fluffy fur. The two seemed as smooth as one creature as Darkshadow ran out of camp, his large paws pounding on the ground. He slowed down and pushed his way through some bushes, emerging into a clearing. His eyes widened in surprise. There were so many cats here! He hadn't suspected that at all.
"Um... let's just... do our thing," he stuttered in a quiet whisper to Sapphire. She rolled her eyes.
"Yes, let's not be social," she sighed, hopping off his shoulder and bending her head down to scoop some water into her beak. Darkshadow followed her example, looking up at the other cats with no expression in his bright eyes as his tongue made ripples in the water.

River rolled her beady eyes as the apprentice soon lost notice of Stormfeather. She heaved a sigh, and walked back to the moping stormfeather who had obviously ignored all around him. His tail lightly dipped into the water, and his eyes closed tightly. "Stormfeather, you cant be like this your whole life!" squeked the tiny voice of his companion. Stormfeather only rolled on his side and yawn. She sccurried on top of the young tom. "You are going to die misrible like your mother did if you dont stop this you mangy furball!" She spat quite annoyed. Stormfeather jerked his head towards her and abruptly got up, knocking her to the ground. " What do you know of my mother?" He yelled as tears dripped from his eyes. "Why do you even care about her, or me? You are just a stupid mouse!" She yelled back at her as helaid down and burried his sorrow filled face under his paws.

Dapple was quite frustrated. The stupid ferns kept getting stuck in her unusually long fur. Distress filled her amber eyes as they closed slightly.
"It's so lonely... no one to talk to..." she murmured as she walked through the forest. The ground felt soft on her small paws. Hmmn... I've seen five full moons...[/color] the young former-kittypet thought. The thought was very random, an--
"Ack! I'm lost!" the young she-cat panicked as her very layered fur began to swish as she attempted to find where she was. She ran, hoping to find something. She smelled a very strong scent of cat, and sprinted as fast as her five-moon-old legs could go. The dark forest opened and Dapple tumbled into a group of many cats.[/size][/font]

Darkshadow fell backward suddenly, limbs splayed out crazily. He got up quickly, shaking his thick pelt and looking around. So much had happened at once! First, a companion and warrior were screaming at each other, then a kit barely old enough to be out of the nursery had plummeted into him.
Quietly, he sat down and curled his long tail around his paws, gazing curiously at the young she-cat but not making any noise.
Sapphire, however, was different. She fluttered over to the strange kit, chirping softly. "Oh dear. Dear me. Are you alright?" she gasped, looking the kit over. She didn't seem to be hurt.
Darkshadow narrowed his eyes at his companion. She was always so open. This kit didn't smell like a Clan cat... she smelled like a kittypet. Couldn't Sapphire see that?

"Oh! Um... I'm fine! Just hold on, I can get up. I'm really sorry about hitting you! Oh dear! I'm not very old, you know! I've only seen five full moons! I think that's pretty young, wouldn't you agree? I'm Dapple, who are you all?" Dapple couldn't stop her mouth from running, even if she asked a question. If the answer mattered, however, she could wait. She felt some burs and twigs stuck in her fur, and started pulling them out skillfully. After she'd pulled them all out, she licked her paw with a delicate stroke, and murmured something about being not hurt whatsoever.

"Darkshadow," Darkshadow introduced himself, his mew deep and strong. "I am a Warrior of HorizonClan."
"Oh, don't be so gruff," Sapphire chirped. "She's just a kit." She turned to Dapple. "Hello Dapple," she greeted her warmly. "I'm Sapphire, this grumpy cat's companion. Do you know about Clan cats?"
"A Clan cat's life is the best life their is. Full of adventure, loyalty, trust. You won't find a closer family. Sometimes even non Clanborn cats can make a history for themselves." Done with his unusually long speech, he shifted on his paws, curling his tail tighter around his body.
"Wow," Sapphire chirped. "That's the most he's talked this moon! You must be special," she laughed to Dapple, throwing a joking glance at the dark warrior.

Dapple let her eyes lighten. She tilted her head, closed her eyes, and mewed in the kindest tone she could,
"Wow, the Clan life sounds so cool!" She fixed her head and opened her eyes. She let her tail raise, but most of the fluff was still dragging the ground.
"What's a 'Companion'? And would I get one if I join the Clan?" Dapple asked curiously. Her paws shifted somewhat as she stared into Darkshadow's eyes. He was so much bigger than all of the other Housecats she knew!

ooc:// Okay guys, sorry for speaking out of character, but this is just to say correct me if any of this post is wrong... if it is, I will be very embarrassed. XD
ic:// Darkshadow tipped his head slightly to the side at the kittypet's enthusiasm. Most cats that lived with twolegs, no matter how old, thought Clan life appalling. Those kind of cats couldn't imagine leaving their warm, fluffy nests and dry pellets of food to fend for themselves out in the wild. This little kit seemed different.
"A companion is part of your soul. I've seen them in many forms of animals. StarClan, our warrior ancestors, grant you one as a kit, if you are Clanborn. Though, like I said before, sometimes there are exceptions. If our leader, Havenstar, accepts you to the Clan, you will go to a place called the Starcove, where you'll get a companion of your own." Done with his even longer uncharacteristic stream of words, he lowered his body a bit so that Sapphire could hop on his shoulder. Looking around, he realized that almost no one else had noticed the new arrival.

ooc// Sorry for another ooc post, and sorry for being quite a bit off... I dont kno I havent been able to roleplay right for the past couple of days... it just doesnt seem very good to me, so I am going to pull my cat out of roleplay until I can pull myself together, I just dont seem like I am doing well enough.... o.O
River studdered to a stop, and looked at Stormfeather wide-eyed. "Do you really think I cannot care about you and your family? Do you really think that I do not belong in your life just as much as your mother, maybe even more? WHo was there for you when you were sick?" She spoke, her tone quiet almost at a whisper, but harsh and the feelings of pain seemed to show through her eyes. "It definatly was not your mother. I was." Who was there when... it happened" She murmured even softer at a silence that only stormfeather could hear.
Stormfeather saw a small tear dribble from Rivers face, and he sighed. "I didnt mean to hurt you so River." He mewed while taking his steps easy and backing off a little bit from the rest of the cats.
River nodded though kept her gaze to the floor, still awestrucken by their fight. They never fought!
Stormfeather sighed and jerked his head to the side signaling river to climb abord his back. "You want me to talk to someone other then you? Then I will, the first trustworthy cat I meet I will carry out your wishes." He mewed softly into her ear as they began back to camp.

Dapple let her shoulders slump when she remembered her sister and brother's reaction to the forest.
"Sparkle! Cocoa! I found this... place! It's all dark and spooky!" The young black, gray, and white ball of fluff was pelting through the house, screaming at the top of her lungs. Her amber eyes were filled with excitement. Dapple reached two other kittens, one was white and the other was a ginger tabby. The white tom had cold, brown eyes. The ginger tabby had light blue eyes, but they were filled with the same laziness and coldness.
"Dapple. I hate darkness and spookiness." the white tom snapped. The ginger tabby nodded, and they shunned her... like always. The neglected kitten ran out of the house, and ran to the forest. They'd accept her there... she hoped.
Dapple shook her head, and mewed,
"I want to join the Clan! My home is here, I just know it!"

Ooc//: Sorry about this out of character, and sorry about this post, which is going to be very late. o-0; BUT IT SHALL CATCH ME UP. xD Because I've had a lot of tests in school lately, I've had to study instead of computer time, so forgive me. (=
IC//: Spiderpaw heard a crash a few rabbit leaps away. He walked steadily on the well worn path until he came unto two cats that looked like they had run into eachother. One of them was a cat he didn't know, and one of them was Dapple. He quietly slid behind a holly bush.
"Oh my! Zeon, look! It's her! It's..." he let out a loving sigh, "Dapple."
Zeon could hardly hold in the urge to laugh. "Well, well, well. Look who's growing up! I never would've thought my young little Spiderpaw would fall in love."
The tom just glared at her. Soon, the two were both watching what was happening in front of themselves. But soon, Spiderpaw couldn't contain himself much longer.
"She's right you know." he said loudly to the cats, emerging from the holly bush. "She's perfect for clan life, and I for one think that she should live here in Horizonclan with all of us!"
He went to stand beside Dapple, his fur prickling at the very motion of it.
Something whispered in his ear. "Spiderpaw! What in Starclan's name do you think you're doing?! THE POINT OF HIDING IS TO NOT LET THE CATS KNOW THAT YOU'RE LISTENING IN." The apprentice heard this, but was too busy with the current moment to even consider what she was saying.[/size]

Was that... nervousness he sensed in the young tom's eyes as he stood next to Dapple? Interesting. Dipping his head slightly, he mewed, "Quite right. We should get her to camp- and to Havenstar- shortly," he suggested. This young, eager cat brought up the possibility of him having his first apprentice. His eyes shined slightly at the thought.
"I don't see why not," Sapphire chirped, shifting on Darkshadow's shoulder. "It's a good age to join, too. You'll learn most of what it's like to be a warrior as an apprentice," she told Dapple. She looked around the clearing. "Shall we all go back together?" she asked, smiling at Darkshadow slyly.
Darkshadow sighed. That bird- always trying to get him to be with other cats.

Dapple tilted her head kindly at the tom. Her amber eyes were filled with thanks, and brimmed with happiness. Dapple thought that they would glow out of their sockets. She let her fur lay flat by Spiderpaw. She hoped he wouldn't hurt her... No, Spiderpaw wouldn't. She let her fur completely fall and revealed her actual size. She was about as big as a three-Moon-old kit.
