Pretty Story[/u][/b]
Prey is disappearing. Illnesses are spreading like wildfire. The streams are running dry. Winter is coming early.
In the middle of summer, the cats of HorizonClan are starting to notice strange things happening within their forest, like the sudden drop in temperature, the consistently cloudy skies and lack of prey. It's the dry season, when clouds are supposed to have been chased away by StarClan. Confused, the cats turn to their leader and medicine cat, yowling for answers, though none are given. The leader tried to reassure the clan that things will blow over and return to normal fairly quickly, but secretly, the everyone including the leader knows they're false words. Feeling the pressure on her, the medicine cat prays daily to their warrior ancestors, but to no avail. There is no message, not even a whisper.
Days pass with increasing worry, until a strange illness strikes the clan, rendering near everyone coughing up blood and for the worst ones, unable to move (paralysis). More fearful than ever, the medicine cat rushes to Starcove where she spends three nights asking for StarClan. The new illness is unlike anything ever seen, and there is no known cure. Finally, on the third night, the medicine cat receives two weak and chilling messages that sheds no light on their bleak situation, but only deepens the mystery.
As summer seemingly comes to an end, though it just barely started, the cats are no better, and their means of survival is starting to disappear. The trees have lost their leaves and what is left of prey is starting to be found dead on the frost-bitten ground. For reasons unexplainable, the Whisper Stream is drying up, and what's left is being frozen. It's below freezing weather, and it seems to be a normal, if premature winter- Until over four feet of snow comes, and blankets everything in sight. As if in response to the death of prey and snow, the clan's Companions also start to disappear, much to everyone's horror. Things have finally gone too far, and the strangeness has to be figured out. However, try as she may, the medicine cat can't seem to crack StarClan's message. Worse yet, StarClan haven't contacted them since, even when the medicine cat traveled to the Starcove again.
One particularly cold, clear night, a tree snaps in half and falls across Whisper Stream's pathway, causing the ice to break and the water to fall in a different direction. Curious, the healthy clan cats investigate and find the reflection of the starry sky in the water. The omen suddenly clicks into place, and they rush off, following the stream of water until they reach the end, where a small pool has formed. Outlining the pool are all the missing Companions, but they hardly spare a glance to the HorizonClan, instead keeping their gaze firmly on the water. In the middle, are transparent, star-speckled cats with wisps of cloud (blood) seeping out of their hardly visible bodies.
StarClan has fallen.
In a way, it was an amazing experience for the clan to see their warrior ancestors, but the conditions were so grave that none could admire the new arrivals. At first, when the cats brought StarClan back to their camp, there was a debate on where they would stay, but Falconpaw suggested they stay in the Starcove. The proposal was met by much approval, and they left StarClan to sleep for the day while questions ran high throughout the camp. The next night, when everyone was supposed to be asleep, the leader called for a meeting to let StarClan explain what happened (StarClan is most powerful at night for obvious reasons). Their leader, Star, told a haunting tale of a fellow StarClan cat betraying a secret entrance between them and OtherClan, the most dreaded of places where cats like Brokentail and Tigerstar go. With the door open, OtherClan flooded in and attacked them, defeating the starry ancestors with the power of surprise and darkness, and banished them down to Earth. They had fallen at the crack of the tree, though the fighting started when winter crept into summer.
The only thing keeping them from returning to the heavens and reclaiming their celestial territory is the faith that the escaped rogues hold in OtherClan. The only way for StarClan to return to their home, is for HorizonClan to search out the believing rogues and wipe their lives from existence, a seemingly harsh punishment for a cat who have a different faith. Since when has StarClan asked for such a bloody price? Of course, desperate times call for desperate measures. Once the rogue are eradicated, OtherClan will fall to the mortal plains and temporarily become mortal.
Enraged, OtherClan tries to attack the weakened star dwellers, but the HorizonClan will fight to the death to protect them. They are their ancestors, the beloved clan that watches over every kit, warrior and elder. It would be a downright sin to let them be murdered. Unfortunately, in the dead of winter, OtherClan's strength and cunning is heightened to an otherworldly extent. They seem impossible to defeat.
But if the they die trying to protect the fallen StarClan, the clan of the afterlife, where will HorizonClan go?

When the snap of a life creates a waterfall of stars
Beware the windswept footsteps from afar.
Do not trust the Others.
